ABOUT THIS PLATFORM
In 2014, Give2Asia launched the NGO Disaster Preparedness Program in partnership with the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) to help build disaster-ready communities impacted by a changing climate. The lack of knowledge sharing and networking between community based groups dealing with disaster recovery and preparedness on an ongoing basis emerged early on as a gap in the sector. To fill this need, Give2Asia launched this community of practice. Starting with 12 organization in 6 countries, it has now grown to over 150 members across 8 countries: Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. The key goals of this platform include:
- Increasing and strengthening the capacities of CBOs and NGOs in delivery disaster programs
- Sharing national and regional technical resources and expertise emerging from this organizations to better manage knowledge
- Building new partnerships and alliances in disaster-affected countries in the region
- Drive more resources to local groups on the frontlines of disasters
We encourage you to support these initiatives by engaging with this platform and doing your part to help build the knowledge-base and support towards prosperous community development.
